GETTING STARTED

Almost all dogs of all sizes, shapes, and ages, in good health, can do agility at some level. Same for the handlers. It’s a great way to stimulate, exercise, and play with your dog, and the handlers get a good workout, too!

WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY

“I started training agility in 2021, and joined NOMAD at the recommendation of a friend. The members of NOMAD have been a wonderful resource for helping guide and mentor me and my young dog in this new journey. It’s been a blast, and we’ve learned so much in just a year’s time, thanks to the help of the NOMAD community.”

– Barb, Member since 2021

“My agility journey started in 2004 when I watched a NOMAD agility demonstration at the Champlain Valley Fair. I immediately knew that this was something I had to try. I soon fell in love with the sport and trained and trialed several of my Corgis before crossing over to Shetland Sheepdogs. NOMAD has been a great resource over the years and I’ve made many good friends. Had it not been for that NOMAD demonstration, I might never have stumbled upon this wonderful sport that I love and that takes up so much of my life.”

-Marty, Club President

“We started NOMAD in 1995 to introduce people to agility and show them how much fun they could have with force-free training. We held practice every week, we had occasional seminars, and we all enjoyed socializing as we helped each other learn agility. We’ve always emphasized that the purpose of agility is to have fun with our dogs!”
